With a dive-bar atmosphere, it isn't somewhere you go for a nice night out, but it does offer a nice beer selection (on draft and in bottles), and the food is generally good for your typical pub grub. Tends to attract more of the graduate student and older crowd other than the groups of undergrads that come in just for the traditional Guinness and Bailey's shooter. In the evenings, they do typically check IDs at the door and don't allow anyone under 21 in. Definitely a downtown Blacksburg staple.
Always loved this bar until tonight, regularly ordered Irish car bombs until tonight I ordered them for 5 of my friends. Accidentally knocked over one of the shots and bartender Greg was extremely disrespectful and said "it wasn't me that knocked over the shot, that'll be $4. He clearly doesn't know his employees because the female gave me a new shot free of charge. Last time I try to justify going there to my friends. No one ever wants to go there but I tried to convince my friends, Greg makes me regret that.
By far the worst bar ive ever gone too. Was treated horribly, got a hand put into my face for asking for water. The bartender are rude and dont know how to deal with a large volume of people. All around worst experience ive ever had at a bar and i really recommend not going if you dont want to get mad about service or how rude the bartenders are.
Went to the bar to play pool and get some drinks with friends. Gave bartender my ID and a dollar. After a few games one of the balls was stuck in the table so I told one of the staff members. He tried to get it out but with no luck. After about 5 minutes I said I needed to leave and proceeded to get my ID back from the bar. The manager said that when he got the balls back that he would give me my ID. I told him that it wasn't my fault the ball was stuck and would like to leave. He proceed to yell profanities at me saying, "go f*** yourself". Thankfully the employees returned the balls to the bar but not before he called a bouncer to escort me out of the bar. I told the bouncer I'm not leaving without my ID. I will never give my business to this bar again and I urge you not to either.
Great place to hang out and get a beer. Decent pub style food with good burgers although slightly over priced for how much food you get.
