I'm now having to deal with my bank to dispute the charge for services I canceled and will not be using, and I was essentially called a liar when I brought up the fact that I attempted to cancel the membership at the end of the month.
What's worse is - in my case - I attempted to cancel the membership in person before the end of the month, my number was taken down, and I was told I would receive a call from the manager when he was back. I did not receive a call, so I called back on the 2nd of the following month. The manager was still not in, so they took my information down again and finally I received a call on the 3rd to cancel the membership. I was not told that I would still be charged, and that I wouldn't receive a refund.
Convenient, reasonably priced gym located in the CRC.
The quality of the gym itself is great, but their business practices are sleazy.
This is not the case. They stand by the "fine print" in their contracts which most people probably don't read (it is a gym membership, we are not purchasing property here). The manager told me that they deal with this issue (angry people requesting refunds, bank disputes, etc.) every month, and they blame the customers - not their policy.
Think first before signing the contract. You are charged on the 5th of every month, so naturally you would think that as long as you cancel your membership before then - you aren't forced to pay for a month. Even if that is the case, you'd think it would be possible to get a refund for the month you aren't going to use.
